Humanitarian Collaborative Hosts Student Coffee Chat with Save the Children Expert

The Humanitarian Collaborative hosted a small-group coffee chat with Hanzade Germiyanoglu, Advisor in the Department of Humanitarian Response at Save the Children US and an international development professional with more than 15 years of global experience in humanitarian partnerships and program strategy. The gathering brought together UVA students for a discussion on careers in humanitarian work and the broader landscape shaping global response efforts.

The group examined the current and evolving dynamics of humanitarian funding and programming, as well as the differing roles and perspectives across humanitarian organizations. The discussion also addressed ways to think about entering the field, including the importance of identifying organizations that align with one’s values and work style and gaining on-the-ground experience.

Through opportunities like this, the Humanitarian Collaborative continues its commitment to connecting students with practitioners and supporting informed exploration of pathways into humanitarian and social impact careers.
