THE THINK SERIES

The Think Series showcases the creative and scholarly work of the 2025 University of Virginia Humanitarian Collaborative Summer Cohort. Each project reflects a student’s engagement with a pressing issue in the humanitarian field, developed through research, collaboration, and applied learning. Together, these pieces highlight the diverse ways students are approaching global challenges—from policy analysis and research to storytelling and multimedia.
The views expressed in these projects are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect those of the Humanitarian Collaborative.
ABOUT THE COHORT
The Humanitarian Collaborative Summer Cohort was developed in response to a moment of disruption in the humanitarian field, when students and early-career professionals faced canceled internships and shifting opportunities. In response, the Humanitarian Collaborative convened a cohort of students, alumni, and practitioners to collaborate on real-world, client-driven projects.
Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants partnered with humanitarian organizations on projects ranging from policy analysis and program evaluation to storytelling and strategic planning. The cohort emphasized applied learning, mentorship, and collaboration, offering students the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while building professional skills and community.
