Humanitas Application Cycle Open

Humanitas, UVA’s undergraduate journal of human rights, is now accepting applications for writers and editors for the Fall 2025 semester. The journal provides students with a collaborative scholarly space to examine pressing human rights issues ranging from period poverty in East Africa, to Indigenous environmental activism in Costa Rica, to the histories of racism and relocation here in Charlottesville.

By contributing to Humanitas, students have the opportunity to engage deeply with global and local questions of justice, and to build skills in research, writing, and editorial collaboration. The inaugural issue, published last spring, reflects the diversity of perspectives students bring to human rights scholarship at UVA.

Applications for writers and editors are open until 11:59pm on Sunday, September 7th and can be found on this page. Questions can be directed to Katherine Hu at [email protected].
