As part of the Humanitarian Collaborative’s 2026 Summer Internship Cohort, Alek Georgeson (MPP ’27) is spending the summer working with HC Practitioner Fellow Charles Bradley on a project with the Amna Refugee Healing Network, a refugee-founded organization that promotes mental health and psychosocial support for displaced people, refugees, and migrants. Alek’s work has focused on evaluating Amna’s Community Partners Project, which engaged 10 community partners across Jordan and Lebanon through training, funding, and implementation support. He has spent much of the summer coding qualitative data using Dedoose and contributing to a public-facing report on program implementation across community partners, including amid difficult circumstances such as the active war in Lebanon.

Before coming to Batten, Alek lived abroad and taught English in Peru and Vietnam, earned a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and managed the English program at a refugee resettlement agency in Milwaukee. He came to Batten to build the skills needed to help nonprofit organizations create lasting change and support communities in developing grassroots solutions to their own challenges.
