Through the Humanitarian Collaborative’s 2026 Summer Internship Cohort, Santiago Campos Lopez (MPP ’27) is working with HC Practitioner Fellow Lissett Babaian on a project with the Bernard van Leer Foundation’s Urban95 Scaling Stories. The project focuses on documenting and communicating the impact of the Urban95 Academy, a global executive education program co-created by the Foundation and LSE Cities to help municipal leaders design cities that better support young children and their caregivers.

In this role, Santiago is helping translate research and program impact into clear, persuasive storytelling for city leaders and partners. His work includes writing city case studies and one-pagers on places such as Lusaka, Zambia; Caruaru, Brazil; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Massachusetts. He is also editing interview transcripts with mayors and program partners, fact-checking claims against primary sources, and helping build slide deck content for the team’s broader Academy case study. Through this experience, Santiago is gaining insight into how research can be shaped into narratives that support action and decision-making in cities around the world.

After graduation, he hopes to work at a nonprofit or think tank, where he can continue working on intersection between issues such as social equity, immigration, and education policy.
