Webinar on Climate-Driven Child Mobility Data
Date: Wednesday, 18 September 2024
Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM EST
The International Data Alliance for Children on the Move (IDAC), in collaboration with UNICEF Innocenti –Global Office of Research and Foresight, UNICEF’s Division of Data, Analytics, Planning and Monitoring (DAPM), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the University of Virginia Humanitarian Collaborative, is organizing a global webinar focused on enhancing data on climate-driven child and family mobility. This initiative aims to inform preparations for COP 29 and contribute to discussions at IDAC’s 2025 Annual Conference.
The webinar will further IDAC’s ongoing efforts to address key data gaps related to climate migration, prioritize data governance, and explore partnership opportunities in the context of children and youth. It will build on the recommendations from the in-person workshop on Climate-Driven Child Mobility Data, co-hosted by IDAC, UNICEF, and the University of Virginia in November 2024.
This event will bring together a select group of cross-sectoral experts in data, climate, child rights, and protection. The primary goal is to assess and improve the data needed to address the challenges faced by children and families affected by climate-driven migration and displacement. Through this discussion, participants will work towards establishing a shared research agenda, identifying common gaps, setting priorities, and fostering opportunities for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
