Sesame Workshop (SW) launched a partnership with the University of Virginia’s Humanitarian Collaborative (UVA) in January 2021 to complete analysis and advocacy on increasing the investment and prioritization of early childhood development (ECD) in the core humanitarian system.

For this report, Sesame Workshop has engaged UVA to review the current ECD context in Cox’s Bazar
(CXB) for Rohingya children, to provide an overview of the successes and challenges of ECD coordination in CXB since the establishment of the Early Childhood Development Working Group (ECDWG) in 2019, and to make recommendations on future opportunities for the ECDWG.

The report is based on an extensive desk review, a visit to Cox’s Bazar, a workshop with the ECDWG, and interviews with relevant stakeholders working on ECD in Cox’s Bazar.
