Lucy Bassett, associate professor of practice at the Batten School and co-director of UVA’s Humanitarian Collaborative, and alumna Makayla Palazzo (MPP ’18), advocacy and communications director with Save the Children, Turkiye, collaborated with several organizations to teach children impacted by the 2023 massive earthquake to use photography to give voice to their traumatic experience, their concerns and their hopes for the future.
