Humanitarian Horizons Series: Student Testimonials

For our latest Humanitarian Horizons Series, four UVA students met with Ambassador Satterfield to discuss and learn about foreign policy and diplomacy. Two students, Pacific Rwanika and Katherine Hu, share their experiences from the event.

“The breakfast sit down with Ambassador Satterfield was an eye-opening experience. As I have aspirations of entering the international development space, I was glad to hear the realities of the field broken down succinctly. He is a great repository of wisdom and knowledge.”
~Pacific Rwanika (Master of Public Policy, 2026)

“As a student interested in how America can best navigate its prominent role on the international stage, hearing from Ambassador Satterfield was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He shared several key insights from his decades of experience in foreign policy, diplomacy, and negotiation, and candidly spoke with us about the realities of international political exchange. I am so thankful to the Collaborative for hosting this event, and to Ambassador Satterfield for his informative remarks.”
~Katherine Hu (Political & Social Thought and Philosophy, 2026)

The Humanitarian Horizons Series hopes to provide a space for engagement and open dialogue among students interested in addressing the world’s pressing humanitarian and development challenges. We are excited to bring more professionals and experts in the field of humanitarian policy to interact with students this semester – stay tuned!
