New Batten Short Course Explores Air Pollution in Mexico City

The Humanitarian Collaborative invites students to enroll in Air Pollution in Mexico City (LPPP 5500), a one-credit Batten seminar taught by Professor Lucy Bassett. Students will learn about air pollution in Mexico City and its impact on children while following a UVA research project in real time. The project features several innovative features including wearable data collection tools and the engagement of children in understanding the data and coming up with possible policy solutions. The course is especially well suited for students interested in global child and youth policy, environmental and public health, urban policy, humanitarian research, and applied policy solutions.

The course will meet on Tuesdays from 7:00–9:30 p.m., from October 13 through November 17, 2026. Enroll in SIS today and find additional course details on Hoo’s List under Class 21275, LPPP 5500.
