Humanitarian Collaborative Co-Hosts Merrick Lecture on the Economics of Immigration
The Humanitarian Collaborative, in partnership with the University of Virginia’s Department of Economics and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, will co-host the Merrick Lecture featuring economist Michael A. Clemens of George Mason University. The talk, “Enforcement and Opportunity: The Economics of Deportation and Lawful Migration,” will explore research on the economic impacts of deportation policies and lawful migration pathways. Clemens, one of the world’s leading researchers on the economics of immigration, will present insights from the research literature on mass deportation and migration policy in a nonpartisan, evidence-based discussion.
The lecture will take place on Wednesday, March 18, from 12:00–1:30 p.m. in the Great Hall at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy.
