Hearing from children affected by earthquakes in Turkey

The Humanitarian Collaborative led a participatory project with young children displaced by the 2023 Turkey earthquakes in partnership with Save the Children. Children aged 5-11 from Turkish and Syrian backgrounds living in container camps documented their lives and shared their ideas for change. The project was featured at the UN General Assembly Act for Early Years symposium in New York in September 2024. The Humanitarian Collaborative team will present the project at the “Photovoice: Aiming for Impact” conference in October 2024 and will discuss research findings and policy implications with academics, practitioners, and policymakers at the “Through the Eyes of Children: Life After the Earthquake International Symposium and Photography Exhibition” in Istanbul in November 2024.
