HC Leads Global Conversation on Future of Humanitarian Studies
The Humanitarian Collaborative was invited to Bergen, Norway, to co-lead a series of discussions with the University of Groningen at the International Humanitarian Studies Association Conference. Bringing together faculty, lecturers, curriculum designers, graduates, and scholars, the sessions explored the future of humanitarian education and its role in a rapidly changing global landscape.
Participants critically examined the tensions between pedagogy and professional training; strategies for integrating diverse global perspectives; approaches to decolonizing course content while promoting solidarity; the impact of neoliberal pressures on universities; and the shifting realities of humanitarian career pathways. The convening emphasized the need for transformative, reflexive, and globally informed approaches to teaching humanitarianism today.
